Big Bass Fishin

Big Bass Fishin is one of those games I opened expecting five minutes and closed forty later. The core is simple: you pick a spot, cast your line with a quick swipe, and wait for a bite. When something tugs, you reel it in with a rhythm of taps and drags that feels tactile rather than fiddly. There's a nice bit of tension in fighting a bigger catch without snapping the line.

What surprised me was how readable everything is. The UI stays out of the way, the water animation is genuinely pleasant to look at, and each fish you land gets logged so you slowly build up a little collection. It's the kind of progression that pulls you along gently instead of nagging you with timers. I played most of it one-handed on a bus and never felt lost.

It's not a deep game, and it doesn't pretend to be. But as a wind-down title it does exactly what it sets out to do. The controls are the star here — casting and reeling feel good, which is really all a fishing game needs to get right.
